Forgiveness is the human action of rid of a fault, one offense, a debt and so on. forgiveness is a mental process which aims to eliminate any resentment, anger, resentment or other negative feelings about a person or oneself.
Etymologically, the word "forgiveness" comes from the Latin forgive which means the action of forgiving, that is, accepting or apologizing; redeem yourself in relation to something wrong. The expression "ask for forgiveness" is used when someone acknowledges their wrongdoing and apologizes to the person they wronged. Example: "I wanted to ask your forgiveness for the delay".
The term "forgiveness" can still be used as a polite and gentle formula to make someone repeat something that was not initially understood. Example: "Sorry, what's your name again?"
In the religious sphere, the concept of forgiveness is related to the so-called "process of spiritual purification", an idea that is present in almost all religious doctrines, and which consists in the elimination of harmful feelings to man, such as anger, hurt or the desire to revenge.
The idea of "God's forgiveness" is common to all religious doctrines. When an individual commits some action considered to be a sin or that is contrary to the norms proposed by a certain religion, he must ask God to forgive his sins, through prayers or penances.
court pardon
O court pardon consists in the abolition of the guilt of an individual, before the State, when it commits crimes under circumstances that are expressly defined in the penal code, being thus exempt from serving a penalty, determination, obligation or order judicial.
An example of a court pardon is described in article 121, § 5 of Brazilian Penal Code: "in the event of manslaughter, the judge may not apply the penalty, if the consequences of the offense affect the agent himself so seriously that the criminal penalty becomes unnecessary".
