Perpetual is the feminine of perpetual, which refers to the state of eternal permanence or that which lasts forever (or for a long time).
This is also the popular name of the Globular Gomphrena, a flower known for its simplicity for having a very high durability. Incidentally, other flowers that have great resistance to time are also popularly named “perpetual”, such as the Gomphrena gnaphaloids and the Alternanthera paronychioides, for example.
In some Latin-speaking countries (such as Brazil), Perpétua is still commonly used as a proper baptismal name, usually for females.
