Procedure is the how something is done, that is, how the process of a certain thing is done. This term can also be used to refer to how someone should act in a specific situation.
The concept of procedure can be applied in different areas that need the fulfillment of an order for the correct execution of a process.
In medicine, for example, the surgical procedure consists of the way a surgery should be carried out, for this everyone involved (doctors, nurses and the patient) must follow specific rules for the correct functioning of this process.
In the scope of Law, the legal proceedings they are all the methods, established by law, of dealing with the cases that are in court.

Standard operational procedure
From English Standard Operating Procedure, the SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) is a formula for performing work, widely used by companies to regulate the way tasks are performed by different employees.
The Standard Operating Procedure is the same as the Work instructions, a list that contains all the basic rules and mechanisms for performing various operations correctly, in a standardized way and with correct results.
Summary Procedure and Ordinary Procedure
Both were separate procedures that belonged to the Civil Procedure. The Summary Procedure consisted of a "acceleration" of the process, either because its cost is very high or because it is not very complex.
The Ordinary Procedure, on the other hand, is the common one, applied to all causes, with the exception of those provided for by the Code of Civil Procedure.
However, with the New Code of Civil Procedure, the Summary and Ordinary Procedures were suppressed, both coming under the scope of a Common Procedure (See article 318 of the New CPC).
