Meaning of Iberian (What it is, Concept and Definition)

Iberian means one who belongs or refers to the Iberian Peninsula, region located in the southwest of the European continent.

The natural peoples of the Iberian Peninsula, the Spanish and the Portuguese are Iberian.

The Iberian name, according to some historians, originated in the "Iber river", today the Ebro river, one of the largest rivers in Spain and the Iberian Peninsula, located in the region of Catalonia.

In the Iberian Peninsula are located the two Iberian countries, which are Portugal and Spain, as well as the principality of Andorra and the British territory of Gibraltar.

According to some historians, the Iberian people had its origins in the Iberian peoples, who inhabited the Iberian Peninsula, coming from North Africa. These peoples absorbed the culture of several other peoples that invaded the region, among them, the Celts, merchants of Phoenician and Greek origin. It was invaded by the Romans, by barbarian Germanic peoples (Vandals and Swabians) and mainly by the Arabs, who dominated the south of the peninsula for approximately seven centuries, leaving deep marks in the culture of the peoples Iberians.
