Jacob meaning supplanter in Hebrew, that is, one who holds by the heel, and in Greek, it means "the one who fought with God". Jacob is a very important character in the Bible, because in several passages there are stories about him and his brother, Esau.
Jacob was the son of Isaac and Rebekah, and the twin brother of Esau. The eldest son had exclusive rights, but Esau was born first, but the mother preferred the youngest, Jacob. This feud led to several intrigues, to the point that Jacob passed for Esau, to deceive his father and obtain the blessing, which he no longer saw well. The brothers have a big fight, but after a while they are reconciled, and this whole story is told in the Bible, in the book of Genesis.
