Meaning of Desiderato (What it is, Concept and Definition)

Desiderato is referring to what is object of desire, desire, yearning and aspiration of something or something.

This masculine noun is not often used in everyday informal communication, but it can be interpreted as the desire to achieve or do a certain thing or achieve a certain goal.

Example:"The only desire of the woman was to be happy" or "The purpose of the book is to debate family violence".

Among some of the main synonyms for desideratum are the words: aspiration, desire, will, pretension, desideratum, aim and aim.

Etymologically, the word "desiderato" originated from the Latin desideratu / desiderare, which means “desiring”.

Operation Desire

It was the code name of an operation by the Brazilian Federal Police with the objective of investigating and arresting doctors, entrepreneurs and commercial representatives for the practice of embezzlement, known as members of the "mafia of prostheses”.

According to the investigations, those involved tricked patients into performing procedures unnecessary cardiology, with the purpose of selling cardiac prostheses and diverting resources from the Unified System of Health (SUS).

The use of the term desiderato to name the operation is an allusion to the prostheses offered by doctors who belonged to this mafia, as they were part of a pretension and final aspiration of interest of the swindlers.
