Meaning of Tulips: what do the colors of the tulips mean?

tulips are ornamental flowers of the genus of liliaceae plants, formed by a single flower on each stem, with elongated leaves, presenting six petals or in the form with folded petals, reaching 30 to 60 cm in height.

Tulipa had its name originated from the Turkish-Ottoman word “Tulbend”, which means “turban”, an adornment used by Turkish men, as its shape is very similar to the turban.

Tulips are easily adapted to cold weather and grow from a bulb that produces a single year-round bloom in early spring. There are tulips of different colors, the result of successive crossings between them. The black tulip still has very dense shades of blue and red.

Handling the tulip bulb requires great care, as it releases a substance that can cause conjunctivitis, rhinitis and asthma attacks.

An example is the park “Keukenhof” “the park of the tulips”, with seven million flowers, which form large colored carpets and are visited by 800 thousand people.
