O Brazilian folklore is a set of myths, stories, dances and customs built with the most diverse influences that the country has received since its origin with the Indian people. It is essential for culture, as it teaches where we come from and adds identity to the people.
Folk traditions are passed down from generation to generation and are still very much present. Character stories like Saci-Pererê and Iara are striking in the childhood of a large part of the population, as well as the lullabies, who talk about the head, for example.
June parties, foods, games and crafts are also part of folklore, which is considered an Intangible Cultural Heritage by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
