Story of the god Vali
THE story of the god Vali it starts with Balder, the beloved son of Odin, who has had many tormenting nightmares. In search of explanations, Odin traveled to Nifheim, where he met a seer who explained the causes of frightening dreams.
According to the seer, Balder would be killed and one of Odin's sons would avenge that death, killing the murderer, who would be Hod (blind god, also son of Odin). However, such a son would not yet have been born and revenge would be wrought on the night of his birth. The act would be performed with the newborn still dirty and with disheveled hair.
As soon as the prophecy was announced, Odin sent the messenger of the gods (Hermod) to a mage to get more information. But, it was not so easy to convince the wizard, who had to be threatened by Hermod to accept the request.

The wizard had visions and discovered that the mother of Odin's next child would be Princess Rinda, daughter king of the Ruthenians, Billing. With this discovery, Odin went to where the princess lived and did everything to marry her, including bewitching her.
Nine months later, Vali was born, who in just one night grew into a full-grown male. The newborn went to the direction of Asgard. His hair disheveled and still dirty, he slew Hod with the arrow and the quiver he carried, thus avenging Balder's death.
