The 2019 edition of the Brazilian Olympiad in Portuguese Language "Writing the Future" is open until April 30th. Participation is free and the registration of students must be done by the professors.

The Brazilian Olympiad of Portuguese Language is aimed at students from state and municipal public schools, from the 5th year of elementary school to the 3rd of high school.
Enrollment can only be carried out by teachers if the Departments of Education (municipal or state) to which their schools are linked are registered in the Writing the Future project portal (Olympics registration site).

With the theme "The place where I live" and honored by the writer Conceição Evaristo, the 6th edition of the Olympics will feature five literary genres to be worked with the participants:
- Poem: 5th year
- Literary Memories: 6th and 7th years
- Chronicle: 8th and 9th years
- Documentary: 1st and 2nd years of high school
- Opinion article: 3rd year of high school
In addition to the students' texts, teachers will also produce material for the competition: the Practice Report. The educators' report will have to describe the discoveries, learning, difficulties and challenges of the training of the participants.

From the methodology available on the project portal writing the future, under the technical coordination of the Center for Studies and Research in Education, Culture and Community Action (Cenpec), teachers will carry out text workshops with their students, respecting the genres of each grade school. At the end of the workshops, schools will have to send the material produced to the Judging Commission by August 19th.

The municipal and state stages will select 569 students and 443 semi-finalists professors. The regional stage will have five meetings (one for each category of the competition), a stage that will select 173 students and 135 educators for the final.
The final of the Brazilian Portuguese Language Olympiad is scheduled for December, in which the 32 winning students will be announced. The winners of the competition will be awarded cultural trips and literary collections to their schools' libraries, while teachers will have international pedagogical immersion as an award.
