X9 means hard finger, gossiper, snitch, big-tongued between others. This expression originated in American comic books, first published in newspaper strips, in 1934. Detective X-9 was an undercover agent who worked at an unnamed agency, later renamed the FBI, during a period when that agency enjoyed popularity.
