Brazilian Astronomy and Astronautics Olympiad welcomes entries until March 18

The 21st Brazilian Astronomy and Astronautics Olympiad (OBA) is open until March 18th. Registration is free and must be done by the schools themselves (public or private).

Register with the OBA

The Brazilian Astronomy and Astronautics Olympiad has tests for all grades of elementary and high school. If the school has already participated in the OBA in the last year, there is no need to register again, just access the website and update the data.

The OBA is divided into four levels, which must be observed when applying. The first three are aimed at elementary school students, depending on the grade, while the fourth is aimed at high school.

the OBA

The 21st OBA will be held on May 18 at the registered schools. The tests will consist of 10 questions in Astronomy and three in Astronautics. The competition has the most questions involving logical reasoning.

All participants will receive certificates of participation. The top finishers in each level will win medals.

Students who are the best classified in the OBA will represent Brazil in two competitions: Olympiad International Astronomy and Astrophysics and at the Latin American Astronomy and Astronautics Olympiad in 2019.

Do not stop now... There's more after the advertising ;)

In addition, the participants of the 21st edition of the OBA will compete in the Space Journeys, an event held in São José dos Campos/SP, in which students participate in lectures with experts in the field and receive teaching material for studies.

Brazilian Rocket Show

Organized by the OBA, the 12th Mostra Brasileira de Rockets (MOBFOG) will also receive entries until March 18th. Registration is done at the time of registration for the 21st Brazilian Astronomy and Astronautics Olympiad.

Participating students will have to make rockets out of a paper tube, plastic straw or pet bottle and launch them as far as possible. Projects that reach more than 100 meters will have their teams invited to the Jornada de Foguetes, an event to be held in Barra do Piraí/RJ. Last year, MOBFOG received the participation of 94,516 students.

Details, rules and explanatory videos for each level can be seen in the OBA website. More information can also be obtained by emailing [email protected] or by calling (21) 2334-0082 / 4104-4047 / 2254-1139.
