Area calculation consists of calculating the surface of a particular object or figure. When we talk about the area of a spatial figure, we are talking about the area of the entire surface of this figure.
To perform the calculation of the area of a cone, we will have to separate its elements (after all, it is a spatial figure), to be able to plan this cone and thus calculate its area.
Therefore, we will have to calculate two areas, one referring to the base area of this cone and the other referring to the lateral part.
• base area
It is the area of a circle. With that we have to:
• Side area
Note that the flattening of the lateral surface of the cone results in a circular sector that has the following elements:
- radius: g (cone generator)
- arc length: 2πr (cone base perimeter)
Do not stop now... There's more after the advertising ;)
With that, so that we can calculate the area of the lateral surface, we must calculate the area of the circular sector. Thus, we have to use a simple rule of three:
Arc Length Sector Area
2πg πg²
2πr Aside
So, to find the total area, just add the two areas.
