Meaning of Lust (What it is, Concept and Definition)

Lust is a feminine noun with Latin origin lust and means lust, debauchery, lust, sensuality.

Lust seen as an addiction is the opposite of chastity, and is seen as an unbridled satisfaction of sexual desires. For many people, lust has a negative connotation, because it indicates that using the sexual capacity without reason undermines the unique characteristics of sexuality. Several authors also claim that lust harms the harmonious development of the personality, because it acts as an opposing force in relation to the dignity of the human being.

According to Catholicism, lust is one of the seven deadly sins, because it indicates an attitude of love for the pleasures of the flesh and exaggerated and often promiscuous sexual behavior. Anyone who lives a life of luxury is classified as lustful or lecherous.

In Brazil, in informal language the word lust serves to designate sperm and heat.

In botany, lust consists of the lushness of the vegetables or the exuberance of the sap.

Regarding the artistic world, the word lust is often a theme discussed in music and books, as per example, the trilogy "Luxury", by the American writer Eve Berlin (pseudonym used by Eden Bradley).
