North Caroline. North Carolina Features

North Carolina is an American state located in the southeast region of the country. It borders Virginia to the north, the Atlantic Ocean to the east, South Carolina and Georgia to the south, and Tennessee to the west. The state's most common nickname is The Tar Heel State, a reference to tar, a substance that was once its main source of wealth in the colonial period.
Along with South Carolina, North Carolina was part of the British colony “Carolina”, named in honor of King Charles II of England. However, the division of the two colonies took place in 1712. After the US gained its independence in 1776, North Carolina became the 12th American state on November 21, 1789.
The region is marked by flat terrain in its eastern part and quite rugged in the western range. The state is famous for having a very treacherous coastline, earning it the title of Graveyard of the Atlantic. It is predominantly temperate, with mild winters (average of 9°C) and relatively hot summers (average of 27°C).
As the State is the largest tobacco producer in the country, the manufacture of products derived from the plant is of great importance to it. In addition, North Carolina also stands out in the production of electronics, furniture, chemicals, textiles and food. The provision of personal and financial services, tourism and agriculture are other important sources of wealth for the State. The main ethnic groups present in it are Americans, African Americans, Hispanics and Asians.
