The biodiversity of the Northern Region

The Amazon Forest has one of the richest biodiversity in the world, which means that in this forest resides a great variety of living beings, plant and animal.
In the context of fauna species present in the Amazon Forest, there are records of about 1,800 different species of birds, 2,500 of fish, 320 of mammals and dozens of species of reptiles, amphibians and insects.
The Amazon Flora is very rich, according to some studies this biome is home to around 30 million species among these, the most prominent are rubber, chestnut, cocoa and one of the symbols of the Amazon: the water lily pad.
However, these figures presented are not completely definitive, as due to lack of research, many species of plants and animals are still unknown by the scientific class and the public in general. One of the difficulties in collecting data about the biodiversity of the Amazon Forest is the large extension of the forest and the barriers imposed by the adversities of the place that prevent locomotion to areas conducive to the discovery of new species of fauna and of flora.

This rich ecosystem has an immense amount of living beings, from microorganisms to large animals, from bryophytes even large trees, in this perspective, below are some of the main examples of the fauna and flora of the Forest Amazon.

Red-headed Guariba (alouatta belzebul)
