Earth System. The functioning of the earth system

O earth system it is the set of elements that guarantee the functioning of the components of planet Earth on its surface, as well as its recurrent transformations over time. Understanding the Earth system is, therefore, laying the groundwork for understanding the Earth in general, in order to understand its natural cycles and processes.

Basically, the terrestrial system is constituted from the relationship between landforms and its endogenous (internal) and exogenous (external) influences, the climatic dynamics and cyclical dynamics of Water. Therefore, we can understand the Earth system as the relationship between the different components of the lithosphere, atmosphere andhydrosphere, with the consequent formation of the biosphere.

Per lithosphere it is understood the physical and solid structure of the planet. This involves, therefore, the rocks, the relief forms and the dynamics related to their processes of action and transformation, such as the internal structure of the planet and its effects, such as the movement of tectonic plates, volcanism and earthquakes. In this sense, although geology understands the lithosphere as the most external and solid layer on Earth, in the terrestrial system it involves both this structure and the dynamics that interfere with it.

Per atmosphere understand the climate and gas dynamics that surround the Earth's air layer. Therefore, the functioning of climates and factors related to it, such as rainfall, humidity, atmospheric pressure, among other devices, are items included in this subsystem.

Do not stop now... There's more after the advertising ;)

Per hydrosphere conceptualizes the structure of water that makes up the Earth's environment, an element that is present on 70% of the surface. In this case, we are not talking only about liquid water, but also its solid and gaseous states and the dynamics related to it. It is important to understand that water acts both in climate change and in relief dynamics, in addition to being a fundamental item for the existence of living beings.

Per biosphere the interrelationship between the three spheres presented above is understood, forming the proper environment for the maintenance of life. Therefore, talking about the biosphere is talking about the conditions for the settlement of vegetation and also of animals, of which the beings Humans are not mutually exclusive, although humanity is the greatest intervener among living beings on the natural environment in which it inhabits.

In the image above, it is important to understand that the Earth system is not Divided by these spheres or subsystems, but united and composed by the interaction between them. Basically, we understand that the landforms interfere with the climate, which interfere with water courses, which interfere with the biosphere and so on. Thus, all spheres provoke multiple and chaotic interventions among themselves.
