population growth in the world is characterized as the increase in the number of inhabitants on the planet. This phenomenon is a consequence of vegetative growth, obtained through the balance between birth rates (births) and mortality (deaths). When the birth rate is higher than the death rate, we have a positive vegetative growth, otherwise the rate is negative.
It was only at the end of the 17th century and the beginning of the 18th century that population growth in the world began to change. intensified, since before this period life expectancy was very low, a fact that raised the rates of mortality. In 1930, the Earth was inhabited by about 2 billion people and, in 1960, that number reached the 3 billion mark, with an average population growth of 2% per year. During the 1980s, the world population passed the 5 billion mark.
Currently, the world population growth rate, less than 1.2% per year, is in constant decline. However, life expectancy is on the rise due to advances in medicine,
environmental sanitation, greater health concerns, among other factors. Thus, the number of inhabitants in the world continues to increase.Do not stop now... There's more after the advertising ;)
According to data released in 2010 by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the world population is 6.908 billion inhabitants. According to estimates by the United Nations (UN), the planet's population contingent will reach the mark of 9 billion inhabitants in 2050, that is, an increase of approximately 2.1 million inhabitants, with a growth rate of 0.33% per year.
It is important to emphasize that the population increase occurs differently according to each continent on the planet. Africa, for example, registers population growth of 2.3% per year. Europe, in turn, has a rate of 0.1% per year. America and Asia have a rate of 1.1% per year and Oceania, 1.3% per year.
