Habitat means the space where living beings live, and develop. It is a natural environment where any organized being is born and grows.
Habitat is a term used in ecology, which comprises space and the ecosystem where animals thrive, within a community. In the case of plant and animal species, when describing the habitat, it is important to mention other animals or plants that belong to that community.
Habitat is not limited to just one species of animal, there can be several species living in the same habitat, and that includes factors where animals, such as birds, fish, mammals, etc., live, reproduce and die, such as land, water, sea etc.
There are also the artificial habitats, which are man-made, used in zoos, or places to promote the development of a species that is in extinction, for example, and then it is necessary for the species to feel on its own habitat.
The habitat is the place that offers the ideal climatic, physical and food conditions for the development of a given species. The activities and the way each species lives, develops and reproduces is called an ecological niche.
Habitat and ecological niche
While the habitat is the appropriate location for a living being's life, the ecological niche it is a segment of the habitat, and refers to the circumstances in which an animal lives, or its way of life.
