Ionic water balance

Water is the best known molecule, most people probably know what formula H means.20. Water is formed by the bond between two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen, when the bond is broken gives rise to ions with opposite sign charges, to understand just observe the ionic dissociation from water:

H2the (1) H+(aq) + OH-(here)

The equation shows that H ions+ and oh- come from the H molecule2O. These ions are in balance, so the reaction is also in balance.

Do not stop now... There's more after the advertising ;)

H ion concentrations+ and oh- that are in equilibrium diversify with temperature, but will constantly be equal to each other:

water → [H+] = [OH-]

In pure water at 25°C, concentrations in mol/L of H+ and oh- show a value equal to 10-7 mol. L-1.

Pure water measuring 25°C → [H+] = [OH-] = 10-7 mol. L-1
