Reverse or Reverse?

Possibly, when sticking to the expressions in vogue, you must be wondering about the real intentions of the article in question. This fact is considered pertinent, considering that it is such a common language, isn't it?

Well, it is as a result of this aspect that the purposes of our study reside, as not only the expressions that are now evident, but like so many others, they share the discourse of an infinity of people, even though they disagree with the formal standard of language. But after all, which one is suitable for this?

First of all, let us recapitulate about the concept to which the word march is attributed – represented by the different acceleration rates consistent with automotive vehicles. Thus, according to the speeds we intend to reach, we take advantage of the gears, however, this diversity is only related to the direction of driving the vehicle ahead. And when do we want to move backwards?

Now, the impasse becomes easy to unravel as we make the following analysis: we cannot say march forward, but forward. In such a way, we do not say reverse gear, but backward – a fact that results in the expression “reverse gear”, since the occurrence of the back is resulting from the use of the preposition, associated with a female article (a), which accompanies the word defendant, also belonging to the same gender (feminine).

Because of these assumptions, remember that:

When giving a movement to your vehicle, in the sense of driving it backwards...
