The words stripe and list often cause doubts, as they are similar both in spelling and pronunciation. Analyzing the meaning of the words, it is possible to understand that the zebra may have black stripes or stripes, since list is considered synonymous with stripe. So, when the situation calls for the use of a word to indicate stripe or stripe, the Portuguese language accepts both forms as correct. However, there are other situations where there is no possibility of words stripe and list be used as synonyms. Look:
