Geographer's work in society

A person who graduates in Geography is called a Geographer, during the course it is possible to graduate in a bachelor's degree and a bachelor's degree at the same time, or just in one of the two.
The licensed professional works in teaching and at all levels of education (primary, secondary and higher). The bachelor Geographer develops activities following research and technical support directed to different types of themes, in urban, rural, forestry areas, among others.
The main fields of activity of the Geographer:
Environment and environmental studies
• Elaboration of EIA (Environmental Impact Study) and RIMA (Environmental Impact Report), in addition to evaluating, providing technical reports and management of natural resources.
• Project to recover degraded areas and environmental management.
• Control of the use of hydrographic basins and environmental conservation areas.
• Development of preventive projects against erosion, silting and also recovery of areas with erosion.

• Preparation of master plans for cities, rural areas, among others.
• Territorial organization.
• Institute and administer geographic information systems.
• Management in the implementation of transport networks that offer conditions for the flow of people, goods and services.
• Market study at different scales (local, regional and international).
• Analysis of regions and their aspects to carry out the planning.
• Diverse studies about populations and their economic, social, cultural, political and other related issues.
Cartography
• Carrying out mapping directed to numerous topics of approach.
• Construction and elaboration of maps and charts that delimit municipal, state, national and international territories.
• Preparation and analysis of slope or topographic maps and relief study.
• Interpretation of aerial photo, radar image, satellite image and remote sensing.
• Geoprocessing, use of GPS and computer programs aimed at cartography.
Tourism
• Technical opinion of tourist potential and management thereof.
• Implementation of projects related to ecotourism services.
