Nuclear weapons: how did it all start?

Since everyone knows the origin of the first nuclear explosion, it's not hard to know where it all started. It was through the USA and allies in the year 1945, when the first two atomic bombs were dropped on Japan, that the nightmare began.
Such a feat could not go unnoticed by the Russians and with it the global threat continued. Soon other countries (United Kingdom, France) tried to guarantee arms with the same effect, that's when the “power formula” was spread, in a self-defense mechanism in case new world wars emerged.
Even China had access to the nuclear weapons production mechanism thanks to the traitor Klaus Fuchs (German scientist and spy). After being imprisoned for 10 years for information provided to his political enemies, Fuchs gave again "with his tongue in his teeth".
From then on, nothing could hold such a secret, that was when the most developed countries decided to create the "Non-Proliferation Treaty" made between 189 nations, excluding three: Israel, Pakistan and India.
Thus, the United States became known as the country that spread this idea around the world, was it then the biggest culprit?
