Much is said and censored about the forms of writing adopted by young people in the means of communication in the virtual environment.
Some professionals harshly criticize the abbreviations, emphasizing that they harm the cultured forms of the language, in addition to characterize the language adepts as grammatical vandals, words spoken by the English broadcaster and presenter, John Humphrys.
However, recent researches prove that children and teenagers who grew up communicating on the internet, in chat rooms, sending and receiving cell phone messages, have a lighter writing and rich in Details.
It is known that the exercise of writing leads the subject to better develop their spelling, grammatical and creative skills.
Thus, writing, even if talking to friends, is a way to better express your ideas and exercise the dexterity of writing a good text.
In schools, abbreviated and coded writing, which we call Internetese, is no longer considered a problem.
This is because the grammatical and cultural forms of the language are not left out. Teachers have programs to be followed and demand from students the necessary knowledge, whether during classes, during exams or in essays. In addition, the school's social role is to train subjects capable of integrating into the world.
The students, on the other hand, ensure that the miguxese (language among friends) in the chat rooms is a pleasant, written activity, and reveal their opinions:
- that students should use such resources to streamline the conversation;
- that they do not harm the learning of the cultured language, as they must distinguish that the language used in school is different from the internet;
- emphasize that teachers do not accept abbreviations in tests, assignments and essays, so it is good to avoid them;
- if they intend to pass the entrance exam, they must qualify using the standard forms of writing, so as not to do poorly on the exams;
- they must know that each linguistic and communication variant has its space to manifest itself – when they are in more refined places, they do not speak the same way as when they are with friends;
- that it is difficult to write in cursive, abbreviating the words - the easiest is to write correctly.
It is important to emphasize that there is no point in fighting internet communication, but rethinking that this practice also has its positive side, and computerization is an excellent resource. educational.
According to Professor Cássia Batista, in her master's research at the Faculty of Philosophy, Letters and Human Sciences at USP, the main proximities of spoken and written texts are: informality and short answers.
The teacher emphasizes that there is no reason for concern, as long as the school guides the student in relation to the appropriate uses of different languages and that society accepts that the computer is part of the lives of young.
