Use of the crasis in the indication of hours

According to the Portuguese language grammar, we must use the grave accent (backtape)as an indication of hours.

See the examples:

  • we will return at 14h.

  • At seven o'clock starts my shift.

  • I count on you today at 8:30 pm.

Rule exceptions: When NO use the grave accent in the hour code:

There are five prepositions that do not allow the use of backslashes for the indication of hours: "until", "after", "from", "between" and "to".

Do not stop now... There's more after the advertising ;)

See the examples:

  • I will return After17h.

  • The tour is scheduled to the 8 am

  • I am waiting since the 3:30 pm.

  • We will leave São Paulo between the 14h and 18h.

  • The supermarket is open until 22h.

Keep following our tips on the use of crasis and good studies!
