Shanghai is sinking. Understand why Shanghai is sinking!

Shanghai is a Chinese city located on the coast of the Pacific Ocean, the population that agglomerates the city reaches about 20 million inhabitants.
Currently, China is the fastest growing country economically in the world. The nation has stood out in the industrial sector, favored by the immense amount of labor, raw materials and fragile environmental laws.

Chinese development brought about modernization and increased consumption, thanks to the opening of the economy, which provided the inflow of foreign capital; due to the inflow of financial resources, several constructions emerged in large cities, such as Shanghai.
However, the construction of buildings is having negative consequences, the soil where the city of Shanghai is present is giving way and sinking. As of 2007, several civil construction works were started, these had their activities developed simultaneously, a fact that caused a lowering of the ground of 1.5 to 2 centimeters per year; in central Shanghai, the situation is even more serious.

This process had as its main cause the carrying out of works in subway tunnels, from 1921 to the present day, the surface of Shanghai yielded 2.6 meters. The Chinese government, in turn, made available efforts to retain the negative effects of the country's intense growth. The goal of reducing the drawdown to 5 millimeters by the year 2010 was proposed, one of the ways to minimize this inconvenient is to control the waters of the water table, which causes landslides and erosions that affect thousands of regions of the City.

Do not stop now... There's more after the advertising ;)
