Genital herpes, or type 2 herpes, is a sexually transmitted disease caused by herpes simplex virus of type 2, mainly, or type 1. It is characterized by small and painful injuries in the skin and mucosa of this region, which spontaneously disappear about a week after their appearance. About 80% of infected people have no symptoms but can transmit the disease.
Besides the streaming sexually, including anal and oral modalities, babies can be infected at the time of delivery, from sick mothers. Direct contact with injuries or contaminated objects are other forms of contagion. O incubation period it varies between one and 26 days, approximately.
Burning, itching, swelling and tingling they can occur before the appearance of the vesicles, which are presented in groups. Using condoms and cleaning the genital region before and after sexual intercourse can to prevent genital herpes. Women who intend to become pregnant or who are pregnant should seek information in order to avoid the possibility of transmitting this virus to their babies.
