You countries of Africa are the nations whose territories lie on the African continent and are distributed over large regions: Central Africa; Southern Africa; North Africa; Western Africa; and East Africa. Together these countries comprise an area of approximately 30 million km2. More than a billion people live in these territories. ethnic and culturally. How many countries are there in Africa
altogether are 54 countries that make up the African continent. Of this total, 48 are continental countries and six are insular ones. There are also some territories that still were not recognized as countries, for example: Somaliland, Mayotte, Azawad, Cabinda, Ogoniland, Barotseland and the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic.

Africa is considered the cradle of humanity, many theories believe that this was the first continent to be inhabited by humans. There are indications that the regionNorthern from Africa be the older from all over the world.

The West African region is WestofcontinentAfrican and corresponds to the territories of the countries Nigeria, Niger, Mali, Senegal, Mauritania, Ghana, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Guinea, Liberia, Sierra Leone, between others. This portion of Africa is among the Saara's desert and the Gulf of Guinea. In regions close to the Sahara, there is a lower concentration of population due to climatic conditions that do not favor its development.
