The Kurdish people are an ethnic group believed to be native to a region of the Middle East called Kurdistan, which covers part of the territories of Iran, Iraq, Syria and Turkey. This ethnic group is formed by approximately 25 million people, they have a social organization based on the clan system.
The Kurdish people aspire to gain political and territorial independence from Iran, Iraq, Syria and Turkey. The struggle for autonomy of these people has been fought violently, especially by Iraq and Turkey. In Iraq, Kurds are established in an oil-rich region, so in the 1980s, dictator Saddam Hussein used chemical weapons to kill 5,000 Kurds.
As a result of this fact, Iraq has suffered great international pressure to institute a partial autonomy project for the Kurds, so a security zone was created in the northern region of the country, where a large part of this ethnicity. The struggle of these people seems to be far from reaching a satisfactory solution, given that no country wants to give up part of their respective territories to be transferred to this nation that lives subordinate.
