The debate - An oral modality

A characteristic that makes us unique beings, endowed with their own and critical opinions in the face of a reality that surrounds us is the interaction we establish with our peers, confronting our ideas, expanding our knowledge according to coexistence, establishing, in this way, an exchange of experiences.
This exchange takes place through everyday situations, such as in the work environment, in the coexistence of family and friends, in educational environments, among others. This occurrence is carried out spontaneously, prioritizing a more informal character, where opinions diverge and are similar, in order to promote interaction between the parties involved.
But there are also certain situations in which such spontaneity gives way to formality, in which the interlocutors have the opportunity to discuss, present arguments and counter-arguments about a theme of collective interest. It's what we call debate, quite publicized by the media in general.
In this case, it is necessary to obey certain pre-established rules, where a mediator has the role of commanding the debate, seeking to maintain its level and organization.

A very common occurrence is the debate between politicians, which is evidenced by the dynamics of the participants, raising questions, revealing campaign proposals, supporting or refuting opinions characterized by argumentative force of word.
The language that makes it up is usually characterized by the standard norm. However, in some occurrences there may be variations depending on the degree of intimacy between the participants, the age group and the cultural level related to them.
Therefore, the act of debating gives us the freedom to freely express our point of view, as well as share with opinions of others, whose intention is, solely and exclusively, to convince or to be convinced, through the confrontation of experiences.
Whatever the result obtained as a result of this, the sharing of ideas leads us to growth, with a view to that to debate is to change the other and ourselves, expanding our worldview and, above all, exercising our citizenship.
