Francisco José Itamar de Assumpção, the Itamar Assumpção

Brazilian musician born in Tietê, São Paulo, known for his innovative compositions in popular music. She recorded her first album (1980) mixing reggae, samba, rock and funk. In total, there were seven albums, being PretoBrás (1998), his last work by the musician. In the last months of her life she was without a record label, and was preparing an independent CD and a book.

In the last four years of his life he was being treated for bowel cancer, initially at the Cancer Hospital, but in recent months he opted for treatment at home. According to friends, he felt weak because of the effects of chemotherapy and died at home, in São Paulo, aged 53, leaving his wife and two daughters, Anelis, 23, and Serena, 26, both singers. His musician's body was buried in the Jardim das Colinas Cemetery, in São Bernardo do Campo.
