República de Cuba, or simply Cuba, is a country that has a territory with an insular characteristic, it is located in Central America. Territorially limited to the northeast with Bahamas; to the southeast, with Haiti; to the north, with the United States; to the south, with the British Colony of Cayman Islands and Jamaica.

The Cuban territory is made up of an archipelago formed by approximately 4,195 restingas, islets and islands, that is, a discontinuous or fragmented area. The area comprising Cuban territory occupies 110,861 km², home to around 11.2 million inhabitants led by the socialist regime.
The topography of the country basically consists of a plain, which occupies a large part of the territory, with the exception of a mountainous area located in the southeast. This surface is influenced by the tropical climate, with two well-defined seasons: a rainy one (May to October) and a drier one (November to April).
The Cuban economy is closely linked to the primary sectors, which is why the economy is supported by products of agricultural origin, such as sugar cane, tobacco, rice, bananas, oranges, and pineapples. Also including livestock, in which cattle, horses, poultry and swine are raised.


In mineral extraction, the country produces nickel, copper, chromite and cobalt. The industrial sector is not diversified, it operates in the traditional industry, such as the manufacture of food, beverages, cigars, machinery and chemical products.
The fastest growing economic activity in the country is tourism, which has a large share of the national GDP. Cuba attracts a high number of tourists due to its natural beauties, such as the Caribbean beaches.
Ethnically, its population is formed from a mixture of Spaniards and Africans, thus presenting 65.06% white; 22.86%, mulattoes; 9.08%, black; 2% of Asians.
Cuban laws provide freedom of worship in the country. A large part of the population follows Christianity, with 38.8% Catholics and 6.6% Protestants, in addition to 35.4% atheists, 17% of the Yoruba religion and another 2.2%.
