In addition to increasing temperatures in summer 23/24, the climate phenomenon will also change the distribution of rainfall in Brazil. In the South region, rainfall will be above average, while rainfall will decrease in the North and Northeast. In the Southeast and Central-West, the distribution of precipitation will change.

Regarding temperatures, the forecast is that they will be above normal in almost all of Brazil, with peaks of intense heat in localized areas. Thus, the country will experience above-normal heat, but with less likelihood of intense and long heat waves like those that occurred in November and September.

What will the temperatures be in spring and summer?

Spring in Brazil, with or without the influence of El Niño, has the occurrence of heat peaks, given the solar heating over the Southern Hemisphere during this season of the year. Furthermore, high temperatures still occur, as the large and persistent areas of rain, characteristic of summer, have not formed.

Thus, October and November usually have days with few clouds and lots of sun, with hot winds and high temperatures. These are the naturally warmest months, as there is more sunlight during the day. In December and January, Brazil is closer to the summer solstice, receiving the most sunlight of the year, causing hot days and early mornings.

However, summer rains occur in the early afternoon and can last until the evening. As a result, the climate becomes milder in rainy regions. Cloud cover on summer days is also greater than in spring, which makes it difficult to record maximum temperatures.
