Because 'how was school?' does not attract children and others…
Psychology points out that these people generally follow some patterns and use some “prepared phrases” to do so. Check out six of them below.
6 things every manipulative person tells you
You do not trust me?
This is one of the phrases that a manipulative person most often says to their “victims”. This makes you wrong to question dubious or dangerous attitudes. If you really consult your conscience or your intuition, you will see what the other person is doing is wrong.
If you really liked me...
This phrase is often used to blackmail and emotional manipulation. Remember: if a person really likes you, she doesn't put you against the wall.
How much drama! That's not what I meant
Here, the manipulator tries to delegitimize you using your emotions, as if they were not genuine or as if they were not important.
No one really cares about you but me
This, in addition to being a manipulative phrase, is a toxic phrase, because it tries to distance you from other people who care about you.
I didn't want to bother you, but since you insist
Using this phrase, the manipulative person will trick you into doing something for them – probably something you don't even want or don't think is right.
If you're not with me, you're against me
Life is not Manichaean. That is, there are not just two extreme points of view; there is a whole area in between and it is ok to stay in this “grey zone”. However, manipulative people make you believe that there is only duality and want to put you on their side. Don't fall for this old wives' tale!
