One new cold front approaching the southern region of the country will favor the entry of air of polar origin into the states of the region. As a result, the forecast indicates that temperatures in the Brazilian Center-South should fall considerably between this Friday (24) and Saturday (25). The most significant drop is expected to occur in the early hours of Saturday, with a forecast of 5 °C in the Catarinense and Gaúcha mountains.

Due to this condition, there are chances of frost forming in these spots. In the lowland areas, minimum temperatures will be around 9 °C, as in the cities of Dom Pedrito (RS), Caçador (SC) and General Carneiro (PR). There is no risk of frost in these municipalities, however, the soil temperature will be below 10 °C. As a result, newly sown first-crop crops could be harmed.
Cold front arrives in the Southeast
After weeks of high temperatures due to the new heat wave, residents of the Southeast will finally have a respite. The cold front is expected to arrive in the region at the weekend, dropping temperatures and making the weather milder. Unlike the South region, there is no risk of frost for the Southeast states.
Thus, the minimum predicted on Saturday for the capital São Paulo is 14 °C, with a maximum of just 15 °C. In Juiz de Fora (MG), the forecast indicates a minimum of 16 °C and a maximum of 19 °C. In Rio de Janeiro, temperatures will vary between 18 °C and 20 °C. With the arrival of the cold, residents of the southeast will have to give up their air conditioning and take the cold clothes out of the closet.
According to Civil Defense, the passage of the cold front will cause heavy rain, as well as storms with lightning, hail and gusts of wind. “There will be high accumulations in a short space of time, the importance of paying attention to the most vulnerable areas is highlighted, as there will be risk of landslides, landslides, flooding, floods and incidents related to electrical discharges and strong wind”, informed the organ.
