Problems with email? We have a plan B

What if you no longer have access to your registered email or phone number? No problem! Choose the “I need more help” option on the same password recovery screen.

Instagram offers alternatives to confirm your identity and regain access to your account. Follow the instructions and you'll soon be back in your feed.

Time to change your password? See how easy it is

Sometimes we want to change the password for security or just to have something easier to remember. On Instagram, this is as easy as taking a selfie. First, go to your profile and click on the three-line icon in the top right corner.

Then tap “Settings”, then “Security” and select “Password”. Enter your current password and your desired new password. Confirm and your password will be updated!

Tips for a strong password

A good password is like a good recipe: it needs the right ingredients. Mix upper and lower case letters, numbers and symbols.

Avoid birthdays, pet names, or anything too obvious. A strong password is the best defense against unwanted intruders.

Keep your account secure

In addition to a good password, enable two-step verification for an extra layer of security. This means that, in addition to your password, you will need a code sent via SMS or an authentication app to access your account. This way, even if someone discovers your password, they will still need that code to enter.

Did Instagram not send the email? And now?

Sometimes the password reset email may take a while to arrive or end up in the spam folder. Check all your email folders and, if you still can't find it, ask Instagram to resend the email. Patience is a virtue, especially when it comes to waiting for emails!

You are in control

Recovering or changing your Instagram password may seem complicated, but with these simple steps, you'll soon be browsing the world of photos, stories and Reels again.

Remember: keeping your account secure is essential, so don't neglect your password. Now, with your account recovered and safe, it's time to get back to exploring everything Instagram has to offer!
