Inmet issued a new statement this Monday (13) that extends the red alert to heat wave that affects the entire country. According to the new warning, the effects of the phenomenon will be felt until Friday (17), mainly in the Southeast and Central-West regions. The alert serves to remind Brazilians of the need for health care, as temperatures have been at least 5 °C above average for more than five days.

“At least until Friday this scenario will continue. As of Saturday there is already a change in the weather with the arrival in some regions of an atmospheric change that we are monitoring, but the heat wave may still remain”, explained Márcia Seabra, meteorologist at Inmet.
Thus, the red alert, of great danger, encompasses the entire center of the country, also reaching points in other regions. Much of the Northeast remains under yellow alert, as do Amazonas and Acre. In the southern states, the alert is orange.
São Paulo reaches hottest day of the year
This Monday (13), the city of São Paulo once again recorded the hottest day of the year. As analyzed by Inmet, 37.4 °C was recorded at 3 pm in the north of the capital of São Paulo. In the south zone, the heat it was even more intense: 38.5 °C at 3 pm. However, the highest temperature was recorded in Vila Mariana, with thermometers reaching 39.5 °C.
As a result, Civil Defense issued an alert confirming the increase in the period of the phenomenon in the country, informing that high temperatures are expected to continue due to the permanence of a mass of hot air over the state. According to the agency, the forecast indicates maximum temperatures of 39 °C, with a sensation of 40 °C until this Thursday (16).
Milder weather forecast only in the Mantiqueira mountain range, with a forecast of 29 °C due to mountain conditions. With the exception of the coastal area, air humidity in the region will be very low, around 30%. Therefore, residents should take care of their health, increasing their intake of liquid and avoiding exposure to the sun during the hottest times of the day.
