How did the idea come about?
The issue is on the rise after several actions taken by the Biden Administration to boost and increase the country's presence in telecommunications services. It is, therefore, a crucial aspect to generate more control over information flows.
The project was announced by Australian Prime Minister, Anthony Albanese, during his last visit to White House.
After that, the topic became even more relevant and brought about the collaboration carried out by both countries with Google.

In addition to the aforementioned, a new cable has been developed by Google. This aims to connect China, Taiwan, the Philippines and the USA and is another step taken by the company to strengthen its service network.
Submarine cables are extremely resistant, being able to withstand pressure at a depth of more than 8 thousand meters. The components must also resist the environment where they are installed for at least 25 years.
