Between the years 2021 and 2023, the company used the watches Samsung Galaxy Watch 4, 5 and 6 to measure people's sleep time, snoring and rest. As a result, 715 million results were obtained on sleep health in different countries.

In general, the inhabitants of all countries do not sleep the number of hours recommended by experts. Likewise, some people rest less in some European countries because of the incidence of light.

Samsung reveals Brazilians’ sleeping habits

The data are part of a survey on the sleep health presented at the World Sleep Congress. The 2023 edition takes place in Rio de Janeiro, from October 20th to 25th.

Samsung's research was carried out with people's permission to collect anonymous data. Thus, through sensors that measure heartbeats, blood oxygenation and bioimpedance, electronic devices were able to analyze real data from users.

In Brazil, the result reveals that users sleep on average at 00:20 and wake up at 7:22. Therefore, Brazilians sleep 6 hours and 58 minutes a day.

In the global analysis, rest begins at 00:07 and people wake up at 7:14. The country with the best average is Finland, which has a sleeping time of 7 hours and 31 minutes.

Snoring analysis used cell phone microphones to measure sleep quality. Thus, it was found that Galaxy Watch users around the world snore for an average of 67 minutes, but in Latin America people snore for around an hour per night.

Another discovery is that, on weekends, Brazilians increase their rest time by 46 minutes, whereas the average in other countries is 44 minutes.

Although not officially considered a medical study, Samsung's research demonstrated that people's sleep quality is below ideal for a healthy routine.
