You Pan American Games 2023 will begin this Friday, October 20th, at the National Stadium in Santiago, Chile. The sporting event is attended by around 7 thousand athletes, from 41 countries, who will compete in 58 sports.
A opening ceremony will be at 8:30 pm (Brasilia time). Olympic medalists Fernando Scheffer and Luisa Stefani will be the flag bearers of the Brazilian delegation.
The tournament, which began to be held in 1951, in Buenos Aires, Argentina, brings together countries from the Americas every four years in a competition with different sports. Among the debut sports at this year's Pan are: breaking, climbing and skateboarding.
Athletes from 21 sports compete 100 places directly for the 2024 Olympics which will take place in Paris, France. The tournament ends on November 5th.

Brazilian delegation to the 2023 Pan American Games
The Brazilian delegation is made up of 633 athletes, with 11 reserves. In total, there are 1020 members, including athletes, members of the technical committees, officials from the confederations and the Brazilian Olympic Committee (COB).
Brazil hosted the Pan American Games in 1963 (São Paulo) and 2007 (Rio de Janeiro).
The Brazilians' best campaign in the competition occurred in the last edition, held in Lima, Peru, in 2019. At the time, Brazil ranked second overall in medals, totaling 171 medals: 55 gold, 45 silver and 71 bronze.

Where to watch the 2023 Pan American Games?
The 2023 Pan American Games will be broadcast on Brazilian Olympic Channel and Cazé TV, on Youtube. There will be no broadcast of the event on open or closed TV.
