2030 World Cup: event will take place across three continents

A World Cup 2030 will be carried out in six countries, on three different continents: Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay (South America), Portugal and Spain (Europe), and Morocco (Africa).

The announcement was made this Wednesday (4) by Alejandro Dominguéz, president of Conmebol. The 2030 edition will mark the 100 years of the World Cup. Dominguéz mentioned the fact that the tournament returns to Uruguay, the country that was the first to host the event.

The opening game should be held in the Uruguayan city of Montevideo, as a tribute to the first World Cup.

The president of Conmebol said that only the first games of the tournament will take place in South American lands. The remaining matches will take place in Portugal, Spain and Morocco. The three countries were participating in a joint bid to host the event in 2030.

Thus, for the first time, the World Cup will take place on three different continents.

Alejandro published a photo alongside the presidents of the football federations of the three South American countries that will open the competition.
