The trajectory of Netflix, today one of the video streaming giants, began in a seemingly ordinary way.
The company entered the entertainment business by offering DVD subscription services, an approach which echoed the presence of Blockbuster, one of the largest movie and video game rental chains in the entire world.

What began as a modest beginning soon turned into a success story marked by significant turnarounds and the evolution of the entertainment market.
The company's journey, from its origins to its transformation, is a fascinating account of the changes in the way we consume audiovisual content.
Now she's about to close one of its DVD distribution factories, with the date set for this Friday (29).
This will put an end to a service that, at its peak, sent approximately 1.2 million DVDs per week.
Company will close old factory
The location, whose address has never been revealed, represented a significant part of Netflix's history, employing more than 50 people at its peak.
However, with changes in the entertainment landscape and the transformation of the way people consume multimedia content, this part of Netflix lost relevance, which made the company decide to close its activities.
Currently, the factory operates with a reduced workforce of around 6 employees, which already shows the decline in DVD distribution activity after a long period of activity.

It's not worth it anymore
The transition to streaming digital content has proven not only inevitable, but also more profitable, as such a service generates much higher revenues compared to physical media.
During 2023, five installations similar to the one mentioned above generated a profit that approached an impressive US$60 million during the first half of the year.
The value represents just a fraction of the streaming platform's revenue, which reached an extraordinary US$6.5 billion in the same period.
