The Lumiére brothers, widely recognized as pioneers of cinema, held their first screening in 1895, attracting a modest audience of just 30 spectators.
Over a period of approximately one year, more than 2,000 people would attend his shows. At that time, the films They were brief, with some lasting less than a minute, but they were still successful.
The turning point came with the Lumiére brothers' second exhibition, which led to the commission of two posters promotional items to promote the exhibition of his 49-second work entitled “Arroseur Arrose” (The Sprinkler sprinkled).
These posters became the first movie posters in history, sparking a trend that continues today. Now, these precious pieces are going up for auction at Heritage.

The first two movie posters, which have already been sold at a Sotheby’s auction in London, in 2018, for 160 thousand euros (around 840 thousand reais at the current price), are ready to change hands again.
The first poster, a work by Henri Brispot in portrait format, depicts an eager crowd waiting to enter the Salon Indien, where the historic film was to be shown. The second poster, created by Marcellin Auzolle, portrays the fascinated audience watching the short film.
According to information from the New Atlas website, these posters will be auctioned in October this year, with an official estimated value of between US$50,000 and US$100,000 (equivalent to R$240,000 and R$500,000).
However, in previous auctions, posters fetched prices far beyond estimates, leaving the expectation that buyers will pay an even greater amount for these pieces historical.
