You could have a FORTUNE on your shelf! VHS tapes are coming to…
1. Understand the plant’s natural clock
Many cacti are native to regions where the difference between day and night is well defined. This means they are used to a certain number of hours of light and darkness. To encourage its flowering, you can replicate these conditions at home.
If your cactus is indoors, try moving it to a location where it receives more natural light during the day and, at night, ensure it is completely in the dark.
This can be done by simply placing it in a room with no lights on at night or covering it with a cloth.
2. Moderate watering (and at the right time!)
Cacti don't like a lot of water. In fact, too much can even kill them! But to encourage flowering, the tip is to focus not only on the quantity, but also on the exact time to water.
In the period before flowers, water your cactus sparingly and always in the morning. This simulates the morning rains of its natural habitat.
However, it is vital that the soil is well drained to avoid water accumulation, which can rot the roots.

3. Sometimes a little stress is good
It may seem strange, but placing your cactus under mild stress can encourage it to create flowers. In nature, it flourishes as a way to ensure its survival in adverse conditions, reproducing before dying.
But, calm down! There is no need to mistreat the plant. One way to stress it in a controlled way is to restrict water a little or change its location to a place with slightly cooler temperatures at night.
4. Nutrients are the finishing touch
Just like us, cacti also need food to have flowers. A quality fertilizer, specially formulated for cacti, can be the icing on the cake that the plant needs to flourish.
Apply the product following the recommendations on the packaging and always during the period of active growth of the cactus, usually in spring and early summer.
