Is the corporate environment gothic?

For younger workers, the ability to express themselves freely is, in many cases, as valuable as the pay itself.

The phenomenon did not go unnoticed by the watchful eyes of the Business Insider portal, which recently interviewed three young North American women who embraced the style known as “corporate gothic”.

What they all have in common is the conviction that personal expression is crucial, and, surprisingly, not only did their fashion choices not harm their careers, but their helped them stand out.

She shares that she has never faced obstacles in the workplace due to her style, and, on the contrary, her boss is a great admirer of her employee's authenticity.

Another young woman embracing the corporate goth style is Ariam Guerrero, 24, who works as a styling assistant in Los Angeles.

His inspiration comes from dark and horror films, as well as alternative music genres. Ariam seeks to incorporate elements of her rich Mexican heritage into her fashion choices.

For her, the ability to dress how she wants is a source of “immense joy,” especially because she recognizes that not everyone has the same freedom of expression.
