3 tips for removing gel bath at home
With aluminum foil
The sandpaper and aluminum foil method is one of the best known for removing gel nails at home. Follow these simple steps:
- Start by gently filing the surface of your gel nails. This helps to break down the glossy finish and open up small cracks in the layer;
- Then, cut small pieces of cotton and place them soaked in acrylic nail polish remover on top of each gel nail;
- Wrap each finger with aluminum foil with cotton, ensuring that the cotton is in direct contact with the gel nail;
- Wait at least 10 minutes. The heat generated by the aluminum foil helps soften the gel. Carefully remove the aluminum foil and cotton from each finger;
- Use a manicure stick to gently scrape off the softened gel. This component should come off easily. If necessary, repeat the process until all the gel has been eliminated;
- After removing the gel, wash your hands well and apply a moisturizing oil to your cuticles and nails to restore hydration.

With water bath
The acetone bath method is surprisingly effective and easy to follow. Follow in this order:
- Fill a large container with enough warm water to cover your hands;
- Then, place a smaller container containing nail polish remover or acetone into warm water. Confirm that it is floating in the water;
- Start by gently filing the surface of your gel nails. This helps to break the shine and open small cracks in this layer;
- Immerse your hands in the smaller container over the water, making sure that the nail polish remover or acetone does not come into direct contact with your skin;
- Let your hands soak for about 15 minutes. Heat and humidity help soften the gel;
- After soaking time, take your hands out of the water and use a suitable tool, such as a manicure stick, to gently remove the softened gel;
- The component should gradually fall apart. Continue scraping until all of it has been removed;
- Wash your hands well with soap and water to get rid of any acetone or nail polish remover residue;
- Finish by applying a moisturizing oil to your cuticles and nails to restore hydration.
With tweezers
The method of waiting for gel nails to wear down naturally is a more patient approach to eliminating them. Follow in this order:
- Wait for the gel nails to last, usually two to three weeks;
- As the gel begins to peel or lift at the edges, use a manicure stick or cuticle retractor to carefully lift the edges of the gel;
- Using tweezers, gently remove the raised gel. Do this carefully to avoid damaging your natural nails;
- Continue lifting and pulling the gel until it is completely removed from all fingers;
- After removing this component, wash your hands well with soap and water;
- Finish by applying a moisturizing oil to your cuticles and nails to restore hydration.
