The idea of diluting shampoo with water may seem strange at first glance, but for many, including the author of the report below, it has brought surprising results.
Hair becomes lighter, shinier and less oily after washing. The technique has already been incorporated into the washing protocol at Laces, a chain of beauty salons renowned for their natural treatments focused on hair health.
According to founder and cosmetologist Cris Dios:
“We call the dilution process Healthy Wash, and it is very effective against dryness. We dilute the shampoo in purified water to prevent the product from losing nutrients or becoming contaminated, and then apply it to the scalp.”
Benefits of the technique
Trichologist Adriano Almeida, president of the Brazilian Hair Society, explains that diluting shampoo in water increases hair loss. chances of the product reaching all parts of the hair, avoiding its concentration in specific areas, which can cause dryness.
Businesswoman Cris Dios also highlights the benefits of the practice when applied correctly:
“By diluting the shampoo, you keep the hair’s natural oils balanced. This oil creates a film that helps maintain hair hydration and, consequently, prevent dryness.”
How to emulsify shampoo?
To correctly dilute the shampoo in water, professionals warn that it is not a matter of simply adding the liquid directly to the product and leaving the mixture in the bathroom.
Cris warns that leaving the compound mixed with water in the shower can compromise the conservation of the formula and facilitate the proliferation of microorganisms.
Doctor Adriano Almeida recommends making the mixture in a sanitized container designated only for this specific purpose.
The appropriate measure, according to experts, is a dose of shampoo for an equivalent dose of purified water, and only needs to be done when washing the hair.
The ideal is to apply the diluted shampoo on the scalp, massaging gently without using your nails. The hair should be washed with your fingers running along its length, avoiding circular movements.
Then, after washing, it is necessary to rinse thoroughly with water before applying the conditioner of your choice.
