Meeting at RN discusses giftedness in the educational context
The application was inspired by the North American project “Who Has Your Back?”, led by the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF), a pioneering NGO in the defense of digital rights.
The report “Who Defends Your Data?” employed its own methodology, taking into account the Brazilian social and legal reality.
The study
The focus of this edition fell on the year 2022, and companies were subjected to a careful assessment based on six different criteria.
Data processing in fixed and mobile connections of TIM, Vivo, Oi and Brisanet, as well as in mobile networks of Claro and Algar, in addition to the fixed service of Claro-NET, were analyzed in the smallest details.
The report evaluated the following categories:
Information regarding data protection policies;
Protocols adopted to provide data in investigations;
Acting in defense of users before the Judiciary;
Pro-privacy public stance;
Transparency and data protection impact reports;
User notification in case of incidents.
In addition, the assessment considered compliance with current legislation, such as the General Law for the Protection of Personal Data (LGPD) and the Civil Rights Framework for the Internet, as well as international best practices in terms of privacy.
The results announced by InternetLab were based on documents, actions and positions recorded between June 2021 and October 2022.
“For this assessment, we reviewed service contracts, sustainability reports and other documents available on the websites of the companies. companies until 10/14/2022”, said InternetLab, which also complemented its research with information published in the press and media specialized.

The operators that led the evaluation were Oi and TIM, obtaining the highest scores in the categories "Information on the data protection", "Protocols for delivering data for investigation", "Defense of users in the Judiciary" and "Public posture pro-privacy”.
Claro and Claro-NET were close behind, losing points in the category “Public posture pro-privacy", while Vivo followed, with losses in the category "Information on the policy of data protection”.
In the last position are Brisanet and Algar (wireline), showing room for improvement in their data protection policies, according to the report.
