Last Thursday (10), the American company Virgin Galactic made history by transporting the first tourists to space, fulfilling a promise made two decades ago by billionaire Richard Branson, the company's founder.

Inside the VSS Unity spacecraft, the first three tourist passengers were accompanied by a member of the team responsible for overseeing the mission, as well as two experienced pilots.
Tourists visit space for the first time
Dubbed Galactic 02, this mission marked Virgin Galactic's second commercial flight, following the first in late June.
On the inaugural flight, however, the passengers were high-ranking officials of the Italian Air Force, who followed various experiments on board. On the second occasion, the passengers were civilians looking for the unique leisure experience in space.
Virgin Galactic has flown a number of test flights before, including an occasion where Richard Branson himself participated as a passenger in July 2021.
O spaceship launch for that mission represents its seventh foray into space. The operation began with the takeoff of a large aircraft from a conventional runway in New Mexico.
After the ascent phase, the craft was released from the parent aircraft, taking on an appearance similar to that of a large private jet.

She then activated her engine and accelerated vertically, crossing the 80 km altitude barrier, marking the threshold of space according to US Army configurations.
According to the company, less than 700 people in the world had the opportunity to experience the space. Virgin Galactic, which has committed to a spaceflight a month, is among the pioneers in the sector.
Approximately 800 customers purchased their tickets, ranging from US$ 200,000 to US$ 450,000 (equivalent to R$ 997,600 to R$ 2,244,600 at the current exchange rate).
This is the company that competes directly with Blue Origin, a company created by the billionaire Jeff Bezos, which also offers short-haul suborbital flights. Bezos' company has already carried out space missions with 31 people on board.
